Budget Challenge for the Month of May (for 2 fit people): $500

I have been pretty good for the first half of May NOT buying the convenience foods and prepping and cooking all of our meals. Last week, however, I didn’t plan adequately for the whole time I would be gone (bc I just ran out of time some days.) So this resulted in me eating out a couple of times…and sometimes I can REALLY eat ALOT! But even with me buying food on the run, I still did pretty good on the budget. We are almost halfway through the month, and I still have more than half of my budget left to spend.
One thing I have been doing is using EVERYTHING in the kitchen. You know how some people have so much food in their cabinets, pantry, or fridge that you know good and well that summa that food is bad or will go bad? Well, I have been working hard at buying what I need and using up what I have. Yes it is true that fresh fruit and veggies go bad quicker, so you have to be efficient. You either have to shop often and buy only what you can use within a few days. I know it is easier to just buy everything at once, but it is a waste of money.
So far this has been a pretty good experiment for me. We will see how this week’s budget goes…
